Video Poker has been around since the mid 1970s, roughly the same time the technology became widely available for personal computers. The game has become extremely popular since then, with casinos giving over lots of floor space to video poker machines. Plenty of players don't enjoy the various table games offered at casinos, so if they still want to enjoy games they can turn to either slots or video poker.
The game begins by betting a number of credits up to the maximum offered at that specific game. The computer then deals out cards and the player is given a choice of which cards to keep and which to discard. Afterwards the game evaluates the hand and pays out (if a winning hand is shown) according to the paytable. It's common for most video poker games require at least a pair of jacks to be eligible for a payout.
As the game has become more and more popular quite a few different variations have become available. Some examples are Deuces Wild, Triple Play, Ten Play, and even One Hundred Play. The paytables and winning hands are always visible, usually on the top of the screen. Video Poker is a very easy game to learn and offers players many hours of entertainment. |
